Whitewater Rafting

This is a relatively new event to FBC Herrin Student Ministries, but it is quickly becoming a favorite of our youth. The Ocoee River was the site of the kayaking events of the1996 Summer Olympics. It is located about 45 miles northeast of Chattanooga. The rapids that it offers are very intense and make for quite a wild ride. The last several years, we have rafted the Middle Ocoee (not the Olympic portion) with an outfitter known as Outdoor Adventure Rafting (OAR). We always have an excellent time. This is a 3-day trip during which we camp 2 nights near the Ocoee river at OAR’s camp-site. We also have the added bonus of having a camp-fire Bible study both nights we are camping. This makes for a lot of fun for everyone who goes and a great way to finish out the summer. In 2006, the dates for Whitewater Rafting will be August 10-12, and the cost should be around $35 per person. If you are interested in participating in this event, contact Courtney at revcort@neondsl.com.
